Full Size Dishwashers
When it comes to full size dishwashers, the name says it all, so you’ll have plenty of room to fill with your dirty dishes!
This jargon free guide will help you decide on the right full size dishwasher for your home.
As with most home appliances, it is vital that you have measured your space correctly so you know it will fit when it arrives to be installed. Most full size dishwashers are approximately 600mm (60cm) wide, but you should always check the specific dimensions listed with each product.
All of the dishwashers available at Appliance Direct are labelled with full dimensions of height, width and depth so you can be sure your appliance will fit under your counter or in between your other appliances.
Freestanding or Integrated?
Once you know what space you have for your new dishwasher you will need to decide whether you'd prefer a freestanding dishwasher or an integrated model.
Freestanding dishwashers are the most common and fit into any kitchen that will accommodate them - their front door is designed to remain fully visible. So if you don’t mind your appliances being on show, a freestanding model might be the one for you.
Integrated (or built in) dishwashers are designed to be incorporated into built-in kitchens so they look more streamlined. If you’re particular about what you want on show in your kitchen, you might want to consider an integrated model.
There are two types of integrated dishwasher - fully integrated and semi integrated.
A fully integrated model has a control panel along the edge of the door which is completely hidden from view when the door is closed.
A semi integrated model has a control panel which visible when the door is closed. Please keep in mind that the kitchen furniture door you require will be shorter than the door you would require for a fully integrated model.
Depending on what you’re looking for, at Appliance Direct Morecambe, we have a wide range of both types in stock and ready to be delivered.
Full size dishwashers come with different load capacities, ranging from models that can take 12 place settings (approximately 120 items) to dishwashers that can take up to 15 place settings (approximately 150 items).
The guides below will give you a rough idea of how much you can fit in different sized dishwashers.
Adjustable racks give the option to change the rack height to accommodate different items. For example, you could have large saucepans in the lower rack and have a shallow upper rack or have tall glasses in the upper rack and have less space below. Some machines come with lay-flat cutlery trays instead of baskets where you place cutlery vertically.
Child lock: This is useful to prevent the door being opened mid cycle and risk scalding a child.
Timer delay: This may be useful if, for example, you want to time the machine to come on at night time if you are on a tariff which charges less for electricity used at night. However, ensure you have a smoke alarm if you do run the machine when you are sleeping.
